What the assessment covers
First the recipient area, because whether tissue can hold a transfer decides more than the donor site does: its thickness, any scarring, any previous operation or radiotherapy, and how it behaves when it is moved. Then the donor area, for how much fat is available, where it would come from, and what its own recovery and scar would mean to you. Then the history, taken over a period rather than at one visit: weight over the past year, what change you expect in future, smoking, medicines that affect healing, and any previous transfer. Then what you actually want changed, described in your own words rather than by reference to someone else's photograph.
What to bring
Photographs of the area from more than one angle, taken in even light without a filter, and older photographs if the change has developed over time. A note of your weight at several points across the past year, which is more useful than the figure on the day. A list of current medicines, including supplements and anything that affects clotting. If you have had a transfer or an operation on either area before, any previous notes or plan. If you have been given a plan elsewhere, bring it: reviewing a plan you already hold is a legitimate reason to book.
What happens if a transfer is not for you
You will be told, and the reason will be explained. Some assessments end with a recommendation for a lift instead, some with a reversible filler while you decide, some with a delay until weight has been stable for a period, some with treatment of another problem first, and some with no operation at all. That is a result rather than a rejection: the purpose of the appointment is to match an operation to a problem, and for this operation the match is frequently absent.
Asking a question without booking
Questions about the content of this site, including any correction you believe should be made, are welcome through the hospital's administration line. Questions about your own case are best answered by examination of both areas, and we will say so rather than guess at a volume.
